WHAT TO DO WHILE I AM DRILLING IN YOUR MOUTH
It starts out the same as when you are about
to walk across a busy intersection on the
street. STOP, LOOK AND LISTEN!
1. Stop - accept that you are here in the
chair. Its only a dental chair not an electric
chair.
2. Look - note what you see, settle in. Really
look. Start with the blank wall or the picture
on the wall, or the ceiling tile. Note the
color, texture, contrast and patterns.
3. Listen - hear all the sounds that are
there. How many different sounds can you
hear? Which one is the loudest? Which one
is far away?
NEXT ADD WHAT YOU FEEL:
First - feel the support of the chair against your back,
your arms, your legs. Feel if the air is warm or cool on your face. Feel the air
as it enters your nose. Note if it feels cooler on the in breath than on the out
breath. Allow your breath to deepen in and out. Imagine as you follow your
breath in and out being on a mountain or at the beach. Breath in and out and
allow a deep breath to comfortably fill your lungs. Allow sound to vibrate as
the breath flows out. Continue to follow the breath as long as you like. If you
lose track of the breath as your attention wanders allow it to return to the
breath and start over again with the feeling of the air going in and
out.
